This is actually printed in a Shounen mag, but I really think it *feels* more like a shoujo piece. The main focus is on relationships and feelings (imho) rather than action and "getting girls"(or fanservice). It's one of my favoritesIt's about a penguin that lives with a family whose first names are all names of different kinds of fish(like Ayu, Shishamo... ). The family is your typical Japanese family, only they have a penguin as a pet(and all their names are that of fish). So thus the title, "Bond"...it's about the bonds between those that care for each other(both human and non-human). It makes you feel all warm and cozy inside, but it will also make you laughThe situations are pretty funny. Oh, did I mention that Ten-chan...the penguin...is amazingly cute? If nothing else, anyone familiar with a Starbucks should read Volume #7. I know I feel the same about Starbucks sometime and I've heard other people in the U.S. say the same... *grin* It has one of the best storylines I've seen in a while. The Japanese is fairly simple, so I'd recommend this to even beginning Japanese studentsI guess this isn't the best summary and doesn't do the manga any justice, but I thought it might be a neat way to break into conversation about manga...it'd be really neat to hear what others thought of this manga.
